Halloween part1 (Carving Pumpkin)

Halloween identik dengan mengukir labu.. pas Halloween kemaren gua ikutan mahat labu. berhubung Halloween berdekatan dengan Hari Sumpah Pemuda, terlintas dipikiran gua buat nge-design labu sekaligus berunsur nasionalisme. dan setelah 3 jam lbih inilah hasilnya:

TARAA!! (Si Asim jiplak ide gua, dia bkin peta negara dia juga).

dedicated for INDONESIA

ni proses bikinnya, baru motong kepala labunya

mulai ngukir dgn bantuan jiplak peta Indonesia

Puji syukur kehadirat Allah SWT yg telah memberikan saya kesempatan dan keinginan untuk menulis blog lagi setelah dua bulan terakhir vakum total dari blogging, tiap weekend sempet pengen nulis tapi selalu ada aja halangannya. gila berasa udh lama amet ga nulis ampe di pojokan beranda gua udh dihiasi sarang laba-laba. heleh...
Setelah baca blog sohib-sohib gua pas jam plajaran POE (Principles of Engineering) sama pak Santaclause, niat gua blogging lagi kembali menggebu-gebu. tag: HakimBOA, Annisarindu, Bungarsalmah, Rahmataramadhan, Dindamaghsyaseptaulia, dkk.

Berhubung tgl 28 October kemaren hari Sumpah Pemuda yg salah satu isinya memiliki bahasa persatuan Bahasa Indonesia, kali ini gua mau nulis pake bahasa negara gua, ribet make bahasa inggris terus, capek bolak balik buka google translatenya. upss..

Gua numpang curhat dikit nih, boleh ya, boleh dong....tag: ALLIGATOR (XII IPA3)
3 bulan jauh dari tanah kelahiran emg kerasa banget kangennya. Apalagi sekarang lagi Lebaran Idul Adha, yangmana tahun-tahun kemaren gua msh sempet kumpul sama keluarga sekarang harus ngerayain sendiri di negara orang. Mana di state gua nyari yg muslim susah banget, dan masjid disini tu kecil lagi. msh gedean mushola SMA5 kali. Beberapa temen gua udh ketemu sm org yg serumpun sebangsa di state dia tinggal, lah gua nemu yg dari Asia tenggara aja belum pernah. -,-" gapapa lah, dibalik kesulitan psti ada kemudahan. emang bener makin tahu negara orang makin kita mencintai negeri sendiri.

Exchange Student

I am an exchange student.
“Aku adalah siswa pertukaran pelajar.”
How do you know what is a dream if you never accomplished one.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu mimpi jika kamu belum pernah mencapai salah satunya?”
How do you know what is an adventure if you never took part in one.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu tantangan jika kamu belum pernah mengalaminya?”
How do you know what is anguish if you never said goodbye to your family and friends with your eyes full of tears.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu kesedihan jika kamu belum pernah mengucapkan selamat tinggal kepada keluarga dan teman-temanmu dengan mata yang penuh dengan air mata?”
How do you know what is being desperate, if you never arrived in a place alone and could not understand a word of what everyone else was saying.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu bagaimana rasanya putus asa jika kamu belum pernah tinggal sendiri di suatu tempat dan tidak mengerti apa yang orang-orang bicarakan?”
How do you know what is diversity if you never lived under the same roof with people from all over the world?
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu keberagaman jika kamu belum pernah tinggal seatap dengan orang-orang dari seluruh dunia?”
How do you know what is tolerance, if you never had to get used to something different even if you didn’t like it.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu toleransi jika kamu belum pernah mencoba terbiasa dengan suatu hal yang berbeda walaupun kamu tidak menyukainya?”
How do you know what is autonomy, if you never had the chance to decide something by yourself?
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu otonomi jika kamu belum pernah berkesempatan untuk memutuskan sesuatu sendiri?”
How do you know what it means to grow up, if you never stopped being a child to start a new course?
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa arti menjadi dewasa jika kamu belum pernah berhenti menjadi seorang anak dan memulai hal baru?”
How do you know what is to be helpless, if you never wanted to hug someone and had a computer screen to prevent you from doing it.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu rasanya tidak berdaya jika kamu belum pernah merasa ingin sekali memeluk seseorang dan kamu hanya punya layar komputer untuk mencegahmu melakukannya?”
How do you know what is distance, if you never, looking at a map, said “ I am so far away”.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu jarak jika kamu belum pernah melihat sebuah peta dan berkata ‘Aku sangat jauh’?”
How do you know what is a language, if you never had to learn one to make friends.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu bahasa jika kamu belum pernah mempelajarinya untuk mencari teman?”
How do you know what is patriotism, if you never shouted “ I love my country” holding a flag in your hands.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu patriotisme jika kamu belum pernah berteriak ‘Aku cinta negaraku!’ saat memegang sebuah bendera?”
How do you know what is the true reality, if you never had the chance to see a lot of them to make one.
“Bagaimana anda tahu apa itu kenyataan jika kamu belum pernah berkesempatan untuk melihatnya dan membuat salah satunya?”
How do you know what is an opportunity, if you never caught one.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu kesempatan jika kamu belum pernah menggapai salah satunya?”
How do you know what is pride, if you never experienced it for yourself at realizing how much you have accomplished.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu bangga jika kamu belum pernah mengalaminya sendiri dan menyadari betapa banyak hal yang telah kamu capai?”
How do you know what is to seize the day, if you never saw the time running so fast.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu bagaimana caranya menguasai hari jika kamu belum pernah melihat waktu berlari dengan sangat cepat?”
How do you know what is a friend, if the circumstances never showed you the true ones.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu teman jika keadaan tidak pernah menunjukkan siapa mereka yang sesunggunya?”
How do you know what is a family, if you never had one that supported you unconditionally.
“Bagaimana anda tahu apa itu keluarga jika kamu belum pernah punya seseorang yang mendukungmu tanpa syarat?”
How do you know what are borders, if you never crossed yours , to see what there was on the other side.
“Bagaimana kamu tahu apa itu batasan jika kamu belum pernah melanggarnya dan melihat apa yang ada di sisi lainnya?”
How do you know what is imagination, if you never thought about the moment when you would go back home.
“Bagaimana anda tahu apa itu imajinasi jika kamu belum pernah berangan-angan tentang keadaan saat kamu kembali ke rumah?”
How do you know the world, if you have never been an exchange student?
“Bagaimana kamu tahu dunia jika kamu belum pernah menjadi siswa pertukaran pelajar?”

My First School Day

It was 4am, I woke up to eat sahur. Then I went online to spend the time while writing on my blog. Today felt really different because it would be my first day at school. I felt excited and nervous. Well, it's fair for a new guys.
I prepared to go to school by wearing my black jeans, black t-shirt, and green shirt. It was almost 20 minutes for waiting the school bus, how boring!. okay I and Asim arrived at school at 8.13 am, and there were briefing in the Common Room (Hall). Wooow, I was surprised I found many Justin Bieber here, I mean the hair style. hha. And how about the girl? hmm I just prayed, wish my fasting is not broken. hha. and something unique I found today, It doesn't matter for wearing pajamas to school here. (Gubrak) (kalo di Indo udh disuruh pulang kali).
Okay, We started to introduce ourselves to anybody next to us (SKSD nih ceritanya, pasang muka tambeng).  Later, we entered the classroom. My first period is Computer Networking (kagak tau gua napa bisa milih ni plajaran) and the teacher is Mr. Smart (gilee namanya aja udah serem banget). Next class is Physics with Mr.Enaboe, His appearance looked like Pak Hirwan (my physics teacher in SMA 5 Plg, bedanya Mr.Enaboe botak tengah. hhe )  I meet him 3 times a day (udah kayak minum obat aja) because he teach Principles of Engineering (5th period) and he is exist in study hall (jam bebas utk kerjain peer atau istirahat) in my 8th period. My third period is Trigonometri/pre-calc. I can't take Calculus because it's for senior class, but it's okay, no prob. the teacher is Mr. Ask (serem kan nama-nama gurunya, yg smart ada, yg hobi nanya juga ada). Next, 4th period is Mr.Trygstad with the American History, he is a young teacher and speak too fast (kayak F1) . Then I continue to English Class with Ms. Olson (udh tua msh di panggil miss) (kayaknya rada jutek). I guess this subject will make me very busy, cause homework most days. After that, the 7th period is my favorite subject, yups it is Spanish with Mr. Alarie.  He is nice teacher and easygoing. Teacher here similar to friend. So there are 8 hours to study at school. And students each class is not more than 20 (kayak les. beneran deh). Each class I met different classmates. howdy, I fell like stranger here.
I've not decided yet what sports I would take. I hope I can join basketball (kayaknya gua kurang tinggi) or perhaps American Football (badan gua kurang gede). liat ntar aja deh. yang penting olahraga.

TRACE OF MY JOURNEY

Welcome back to blogger.com. it has been long time I don't touch my keyboard to write anything on this site. What's up blogger, I'd like to share couple things about what I see and feel since I've been here less than month ago. Well, Check it out.
My trip began on August 6th to KL, Frankfurt, and Washington DC, we had arrived-orientation in Hilton Dulles Hotel for 3 days. I am hosted in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I arrived here on August 10th. Along the flight I was thinking, oh my god, I will be alone here whole year. Yups that's right, I'm the only Indonesian student who is hosted in South Dakota this year. It's a rather big state, which is well-known of the Mount Rushmore.
I'd like to introduce my host-family, I live with Philippe family, my parents are Mike and Marry Philippe, they are awesome parents. Mom works as Local Coordinator of ACES, and Dad is a business-owner. I have three host-siblings, they are Marco, Dan, and Sarah. Marco and Dan have already married and live in other state. Sarah study in University ( I forget the name of University.). I have roommate from Pakistan, his name is Asim, you might not believe me that his name is only Asim, he has not family name. (what a simple name!) hhe. We also have 3 cute wiener dogs, Louie, Jossy, and Henry. In this country dog is family member.

I live in a big house (3 floors), it's very natural. I can see wood everywhere. My room is upstairs, and there is piano nearby my room (I'm just learning).
There are fitness equipment, billiard table, and of course Home Theater downstairs. we also have a garden. Mom calls it fun place.

the piano nearby my room.  (ane cm bisa mencet dikit dikit. hhe)
Dining room
my bedroom
we have a basketball/tennis court

guest room
kitchen

okay, now talk about the environment, the scenery of this city is awesome, amazing, and incredible (lebay deh ekspresinya!). You can see trees everywhere. Left and right side of the road are green. And it's difficult to find damaged road here. Almost of the road here are smooth. They drive at left side in the car. They do traffic manners and safety first very well. I've never found any traffic jam in my city. The distance of a house to other house is approximately 100-500 meters. Every house usually has large yard and of course basketball ring. Most of houses are natural.

If you have a stereotype that life cost here are cheap and all of westerner have tall body, please throw it away. It's wrong. (krek.... krek.. pegel nih.. to be continued)
